FAQs

What if we want to change my student's course choices after the published deadline (January 16)?

Changes may no longer be made online after January 16.  Students may obtain a "Course Change Form" from the Hoover Counseling Office or by clicking the link.  Completed forms should be returned to the Hoover Counseling Office.  Whether requests will be honored will follow the policies and procedures Churchill has established.  The deadline for course changes is April 30.

Are there forms we need to fill out in addition to the online and paper registration form in order to make sure my student is ready to start at Churchill?

Not from Hoover.  It is assumed that all Hoover students will attend Churchill next year unless arrangements have been made for them to attend elsewhere.  We will forward all of our 8th grade educational records to Churchill over the summer.  Churchill may have additional forms for you to complete.  If so, those will be mailed to the home address MCPS has on record for your family in the spring or over the summer.

INDEPENDENT/PRIVATE SCHOOL APPLICATIONS

If your student is planning to apply to independent/private schools, please forward all necessary school/principal/counselor recommendation forms to your student's current grade level counselor and all transcript requests to Deb Kunzle (registrar) as soon as possible.  If your application requires individual teacher recommendations, please send those directly to the specific teachers.

If the schools to which your student is applying give you the option to use the Standard Application Online (SAO) or the Gateway to Prep School application, please consider using those.  The counseling department requires at least 15 days to process these requests, so plan accordingly keeping due dates in mind!
